Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

PAT Testing · PAT

Portable appliance testing that evidences electrical safety duties.

Portable Appliance Testing checks the safety of moveable electrical appliances - from kettles and lamps to washing machines. While PAT itself is not named in legislation, it is the established way of evidencing the duty under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 to keep electrical equipment safe.

For furnished lets and HMOs in particular, PAT testing is widely expected by insurers, local authorities and managing agents as part of a complete compliance file.

HomeCert carries out PAT testing alongside EICRs and gas checks, so a rental can be fully certified in a single visit.
